Angels in the Sky

    SAMPLE CHAPTER

angelsThe night air felt refreshing after the stuffy atmosphere of the dance hall, and down on the beach they had found a quiet little spot between the rocks. Catherine threw down her shoes and pressed her toes into the sand. She was wearing a midnight blue silky dress with fine shoulder straps that crossed at the back. It emphasized her slender form as the breeze hugged it close to her body and she looked soft and feminine with her long blond hair blowing across her face. She stooped gently and sat on the loose sand.
Steve faced the sea, took a deep breath of night air and made a satisfying exhalation before taking off his jacket and sitting next to Catherine. He loosened his tie and opened the collar on his shirt. Easing into the sand, he placed his jacket neatly by his side. He turned casually to look at Catherine and leaned back to lie by her side. They gazed for a moment at the clear starlit sky. The heat of the summer’s day lingered on the ground, and the sand gave a satisfying feel as Catherine pushed her fingers beneath the surface. Their hot bodies welcomed the cool on-shore breeze.
“I wish we didn’t have to go back tomorrow,” sighed Catherine.
“Well...Has to end sometime” Steve replied.
Steve’s casual approach surprised Catherine. “It sounds like you’re looking forward to going home.”
He settled comfortably on the sand. “Not me... I could stay here forever.”
Steve had a slightly northern accent, south Yorkshire maybe. Catherine’s diction was perfect. She had one of those musical voices where the pitch rises and falls through a pleasant range of tones.
“I’m so glad to get out of that dance hall,” Catherine said breathing a sigh of relief.
“Yes. It was rather hot!” Steve said idly.
There was a pause. “We’ve chosen a good time,” Catherine said. “The weather has been brilliant.”
There was that lovely fresh smell of sea air. The waves washed along the shore about ten yards away from them and the heavy lapping sound made Steve raise his head slightly to check the distance.
“Yes,” said Steve roguishly and then sat back feeling contented with himself. “I thought you looked gorgeous in that bikini.’ He paused as a broad grin appeared on his face. ‘It was a real turn-on today when you walked out of the sea after your swim. You had the wet look and I could see your nipples raised in your bikini top”.
“Steve!” Catherine said. “You’re not supposed to be looking at things like that.”
He rolled onto his side and propped himself up on his elbow. “Why not; we’re married... It’s not the first time I’ve seen them”.
“That doesn’t matter.”
He put his hand across her abdomen. “It does to me. I love you. I want to keep exploring every part of you.” He relished the scent of her body. She carried a delicious fragrance, a discrete perfume that made her smell naturally beautiful.
His hand moved down her leg and paused at the hem of her dress. She looked him in the face unsure of his intent then accepted him as he leaned forward and kissed her full on the lips. He smoothed her knee then gradually started to move higher.
“Not here!” She pushed him away.
“Why not, no one can see us.” Steve looked around to make sure.
Although she would not admit it, Catherine felt ‘turned on’ with all this open space and the slight risk that someone might see them. Steve unbuttoned his shirt. Catherine offered little resistance as Steve began his foreplay. Before long, Steve was half naked and petting Catherine. Her shoulder strap dress pulled up around her waist and one strap off the shoulder revealing her small rounded breast. There were pleasurable sounds and the occasional chuckle and things would have gone much further had a heavy cracking sound against the rocks not startled them. Catherine felt a spray of warm sand splattering over her legs. She pushed Steve away hastily. Quickly brushing the warm sand away, she stood up, rearranged her dress and started making her way off the beach. Steve swiftly followed, forcing his arm into his crumpled shirt and stumbling into his trousers as Catherine scurried away kicking the sand up with her heels. “I told you someone might see us,” she said talking over her shoulder. Steve ran back to grab his jacket.
As they reached the pier, they both glanced around at what had now become menacing shadows around the rocks and felt sure someone had been watching them. As they scanned the scene of their indiscretion, the welcoming little spot now looked austere, revealing its jagged edges and deeply shadowed recesses...
