About the author
Dennis, who is qualified in Karate and has run his own karate club for many years, is a firm believer in using the martial arts for personal achievement. Although the arts have an obvious application, Dennis emphasises their history and spiritual value that form part of the soul of the arts, and has no interest in competitive styles.
As a cancer survivor, he firmly believes his positive thinking and skills as a writer and martial artist helped him to fight off the after effects of major surgery and a gruelling stint of chemotherapy.
Examples of Dennis’s positive approach are demonstrated in some of his books where he talks about using the mind to combat the depressing effects of illness. His overall philosophy also emphasises a positive approach, not just to illness, but also to life generally.
Dennis’s interest in the arts and the philosophy are mixed with his university studies, when he graduated in 1978 with a BA Honours Degree. As well as academic and practical approaches, Dennis is also creative. Having spent 25 years as a freelance photographer, he turned professional in 1990. He achieved the award of Licentiateship with the Master Photographer Association, and covered all aspects of photography including model portfolios, weddings, portraits.
Despite his diverse interests, Dennis continues to find the time and inspiration to produce an exciting and varied range of quality works. While being an author of non-fiction books, he also writes fiction with: ‘Lies Cast Long Shadows’, ‘Angels in the Sky’, and forthcoming ‘The Old Tin Shack’, and ‘Sudden Impulse. He continues to combine his martial arts teaching skills with his writing to produce stories and articles on a variety of topics.
